This vintage Persian rug, hand-knotted in the Sirjan region of Iran circa the 1970s, measures 1.75 by 1.25 metres. It features a distinctive central diamond motif surrounded by naïve borders, showcasing a harmonious blend of soft colours including navy blue, grass green, rustic orange, olive green, coral tones, and ivory.
Crafted with a wool pile on a cotton foundation and dyed using natural vegetable-based dyes, this rug embodies traditional Persian weaving techniques. Variations in colour, known as 'abrash', appear as subtle stripes within the field due to the use of different batches of wool and organic dyes, adding depth and character to the design.
Its compact size and uplifting palette make it an excellent choice for smaller spaces such as studies or bedrooms, where it can bring warmth and personality. The rug is in excellent vintage condition, having been carefully washed and repaired to ensure longevity. Minor signs of wear reflect its authentic heritage and contribute to its unique charm.
