This antique Persian Kerman rug, known as the "Millefleur Kerman - Thousand Flowers", dates back to the early 20th century, circa 1910s. It exemplifies the celebrated "Thousand Flowers" (Hezār Gol) design, a motif deeply rooted in Persian cultural appreciation for gardens and nature's bounty.
The rug's surface is richly covered with a profusion of floral patterns, including roses, peonies, and carnations, arranged in a harmonious and repetitive layout. This intricate botanical composition creates a visual impression reminiscent of a Persian miniature garden, rendered in fine silk and wool craftsmanship.
Set on a soft ivory and rose-toned background, the palette features deep crimson, pistachio green, sky blue, blush pink, with subtle accents of saffron and indigo. The dense floral motifs and balanced colours highlight the exceptional skill of Kerman weavers during this period.
Ideal for traditional or eclectic interiors, the Millefleur Kerman rug can also serve as a striking wall hanging. Its timeless elegance and cultural symbolism make it more than a decorative piece—it reflects themes of life, renewal, and paradise within Persian art.
