Description

The Persian Gabbeh Rug Butterfly Design, sized 2.8 x 2.1 metres, is a genuine handwoven creation from the Fars province of Persia. Crafted by tribal artisans using hand-spun wool, this rug features a notably thick and solid texture that distinguishes it from finer Persian rugs.

The rug’s field showcases a deep ocean-blue background, accented by a minimalist butterfly motif at its centre. Surrounding this are unique borders decorated with traditional animal and human figures, some depicting cultural dance movements. These details reflect the rich heritage and storytelling typical of Gabbeh designs.

Colour variations known as “Abrash” appear throughout the rug, resulting from the use of organic dyes and differing wool batches. These subtle stripes add dimension and character to the overall look.

This contemporary Gabbeh rug is well suited for larger living spaces, bringing warmth and a tactile presence underfoot. Measuring 2.8 by 2.1 metres, it offers a substantial floor covering with a distinctive tribal aesthetic.

Key features:

  • Hand-knotted in Persia using 100% pure wool
  • Vegetable-dyed fibres delivering natural colour variations
  • Authentic tribal motifs including butterfly and dance figures
  • Thick, durable weave ideal for high-traffic areas
  • Dimensions: 2.8 x 2.1 metres

To preserve its quality and longevity, regular care suited to handwoven wool rugs is recommended.
