The Afshar Mirror Holder, known as “Aynalik,” is a handcrafted decorative piece created by the Afshar Tribe of southern Persia. This unique item reflects traditional Persian tribal artistry, carefully woven by women and young nomadic girls.
Measuring 0.55 by 0.3 metres, the mirror holder is both functional and decorative. It features a hand-knotted front side with a piled rug texture, while the reverse is a flatwoven kilim. Crafted entirely from 100% wool and coloured using organic dyes, this piece retains authentic materials and techniques passed down through generations.
Originally designed for personal use within tribal and nomadic communities to store mirrors, the Afshar Mirror Holder now serves as a distinctive wall art or collectible. Its vibrant patterns and traditional craftsmanship make it a meaningful addition to interiors seeking cultural depth and handmade quality.
Selected pieces can be viewed in the intended room so scale, colour and furniture relationships can be judged properly.
Additional unedited photos can be provided on request to help confirm colour, texture, pile and condition before an appointment.
Provenance, condition notes and authenticity guidance can be discussed for collectible and significant pieces.
